On 7 December, the Swiss Association for the Peaceful Unification of China ( SAPUC)in Switzerland convened a meeting in Bern commemorating the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration to the motherland. Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland Qian Minjian attended the meeting and delivered remarks.

Ambassador Qian stated that this year marks the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory, which is grounded in solid historical and legal foundations. Recently, certain countries have deliberately distorted and challenged the U.N. General Assembly Resolution 2758, making provocative remarks concerning Taiwan. Such regressive actions are doomed to fail. Overseas Chinese in Switzerland have a good tradition of supporting national reunification and national rejuvenation. We must continue to unite the overseas Chinese in Switzerland, strengthen the forces in Switzerland to advance national reunification, and to leave no room for "Taiwan independence" separatist activities in any form .

The Overseas Chinese attending the meeting condemned provocative remarks on Taiwan made by politicians from certain countries. They expressed that they will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle, support the great cause of national reunification with concrete actions, safeguard the overall interests of the Chinese nation, and contribute to the great revival of the Chinese nation.
