From July 7-10, the second round of Sino-Swiss FTA upgrade negotiations was held in Geneva, Switzerland. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on trade in goods, trade in services, investment, rules of origin, trade facilitation, competition, environment and trade, economic and technical cooperation, and other topics, in which positive progress were made.

The Sino-Swiss FTA was signed in July 2013 and came into effect in July 2014, playing an important role in promoting the growth of bilateral trade and investment between China and Switzerland. The two sides opened talks on FTA upgrade in September 2024 and held the first round of negotiations in March 2025 in Beijing.
