On 9 May 2026, the Swiss Qualifier of 2026“Chinese Bridge”Chinese Competition/Show was successfully held in Bern. Qian Minjian, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland, attended the event, delivered a speech and presented awards to the winners.

In his speech, Ambassador Qian Minjian noted that the Chinese language embodies the wisdom of the Chinese civilisation, which has endured for millennia and remains ever-relevant; it is also a“golden key”to promoting international friendship and cooperation, and deepening mutual learning and exchange between civilisations. Ambassador Qian encouraged the contestants to fully use of the chance, enjoy the competition/show, and cherish it for exchanges; he welcomed them to visit China in person in the future, to experience a real, multi-faceted and comprehensive China, to learn from and share with their Chinese peers, to tell the story of China as seen through the eyes of the younger generation in Switzerland, and to grow to become the inheritors, promoters and builders of Sino-Swiss friendship in the new era.

The competition was organised by the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland and co-organised by the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Switzerland, with 18 contestants from primary schools, secondary schools and universities across Switzerland taking part. After intense contention, Elinore Fidanza from the University of Geneva, Franka Roffler from the Burggraben Secondary School in St. Gallen, and Valentin Müller from Han Tong Chinese School in Basel, won the first prize in the university competition, secondary school competition and primary school show respectively.
