Visa for Hong Kong SAR

Swiss citizen:
1. Swiss citizen holding a Swiss passport may travel to HKSAR visa-free for a short visit or tourism and stay in HKSAR for up to 90 days.
2. Swiss citizen should obtain a visa if the intended stay in HKSAR is more than 90 days, or the purpose of visit is to work, study, establish or join in any business, get training, hold an exhibition or business performance, or to take up residence in the HKSAR before traveling to HKSAR.
3. How to apply for a HKSAR visa:
a)  You may mail your application directly to the Immigration Department of HKSAR Government or submit your application in person to Chinese Embassy.
b)  Follow the guidelines for HKSAR Visa and prepare required supporting documents with your application. Please check the HKSAR Immigration Department website for the required documents.
c) Processing time will be decided by the HKSAR Immigration Department, normally it will take 1 month or longer, no confirmed time.
d) Fees and payments: If your application needs to be referred to HKSAR Immigration Department for processing, you are required to pay a Communication Fee of CHF20 to the Embassy prior to submission of your application, in addition to the HKSAR visa fee which is charged once your visa is approved. Otherwise, you must pay directly to HKSAR Government as instructed.
 
Non-Swiss citizen:
1. Please check the visa requirements or visa-free arrangements for non-Swiss citizen by visiting the website of HKSAR Immigration Department.
2. Non-Swiss citizen should obtain a visa if the purpose of visit is to work, study, establish or join in any business, get training, hold an exhibition or business performance, or to take up residence in the HKSAR before traveling to HKSAR.
3. How to apply for a HKSAR visa:
You may mail your application directly to the Immigration Department of HKSAR Government or submit your application in person to Chinese Embassy, some of these applications may have to be referred to HKSAR Immigration Department.
 
Required documents:
a) Passport: Original Passport and copy of the information page of the passport
b) Application form and photo: Full fill the visa application form of Hong Kong and also 1 color photo
d) Original and copy of Swiss permit (B, C, G, L)
e) Please check the HKSAR Immigration Department website for the required supporting documents according to your travel purpose.
 
Processing time:
a) If your entry visa can be issued directly by the Chinese embassy, processing time will be 4 working days.
b) If your application needs to be referred to HKSAR Immigration Department for processing, it will take 1 month or longer, no confirmed time.
 
Fee:
a) If you submit your application directly to HKSAR Immigration Department, you could follow their instructions and make the payment.
b) If you submit your application to the Chinese embassy, the visa fee is 45CHF (4 working days).
c) If your application needs to be referred to HKSAR Immigration Department for processing, you are required to pay a Communication Fee of CHF 20 to the Embassy prior to submission of your application, in addition to the HKSAR visa fee which is charged once your visa is approved.
